Groups and skinned_geometry¶
Because Blender and GLTF often break hierarchy, Model Converter completely rebuilds the skinned_geometry object. Skinned geometry is grouped for easier management.
- skinned_geometry
-- soldier_helmet_grp
--- soldier_helmet
---- soldier_helmet_LOD1
<...>
---- soldier_helmet_LOD5
--- soldier_helmet_lenses
--- soldier_helmet_glass
Since grouping is configured manually by the artist, Model Converter has no knowledge of it and rebuilds the skinned_geometry object in the following way:
- skinned_geometry
-- soldier_helmet_grp
--- soldier_helmet
-- soldier_helmet_lenses_grp
--- soldier_helmet_lenses
-- soldier_helmet_glass_grp
--- soldier_helmet_glass
In most of the cases, this approach is fine and causes no issues. However, sometimes custom group merging rules are required.
